Submission to the Department of Health: Improving Choice in Residential Aged Care

This submission highlights the difficulties faced by people who are blind or have low vision living in or seeking to enter residential care. It outlines a number of measures that could result in more choice and freedom for our cohort, including provision of assistive technology, more accessible accommodation and communication, acknowledgement of people with vision loss as part of the disability special needs group, improved access to eye tests and recording of information about residents’ eye health.
