Accessibility Statement

The Vision 2020 Australia website has been developed in accordance with best practice and designed to conform to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 ‘A’ level. Where possible we strive to achieve ‘AA’ level for  those criteria that relate to vision impairment. There are some instances where this site links to external content and we have been unable to source accessible versions.

Vision 2020 Australia is committed to providing accessible information and resources via our website, so if you encounter any difficulties using this site, or would like to provide feedback, please use our feedback form.

A number of features to better facilitate use and control of the website are detailed below.

Javascript

This site works best with Javascript enabled in your browser. Javascript is used for accessibility controls and text size switching throughout the site.

Text size

The site uses text size controls to provide easier readability.

Depending on the operating system that you are using, you can hold down the CTRL key (Microsoft Windows) or the ‘Apple’ key (Mac OS X) on your keyboard, and:

  • Press the + key to increase text size, repeat until the desired size is achieved
  • Press the – key to decrease text size, repeat until the desired size is achieved
  • You can also scroll with your mouse wheel to make text bigger or smaller
  • Press the 0 (zero) key to revert to the default text size

Text only version

For maximum accessibility, a text only version of the site has been provided. This version has no images, is high contrast, loads more quickly, and is optimized for screen readers.

To switch to the text only version, click on “text version” in the upper right menu.
To switch back to the default site, click “default site” in the upper right menu.

Skip to content

To enable better usability for screen readers, a “skip to content” control is located on every page of the main site.

To skip to content, click on “skip to content” in the upper right menu or use access key S.

Access keys

Access keys are keyboard shortcuts intended to help users who have difficulties with pointing devices, such as a mouse. By using access keys you can jump to specific areas of a website.

How to use access keys

Different browsers require slightly different key combinations to use an access key:

Internet Explorer (PC)
Hold down the ALT key, press the number of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER.

FireFox 2+ (PC)
Hold down the SHIFT and ALT key and press the number of the access key.

FireFox 2+ (Mac)
Hold down the CTRL and OPT key and press the number of the access key.

Google Chrome 3+ (PC)
Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key.

Google Chrome 3+ (Mac)
Hold down the CTRL and ALT keys and press the number of the access key. 

Safari 3+ (Mac)
Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key.

Safari 3+ (PC)
Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key.

Contrast

The Vision 2020 Australia website meets the WCAG requirements for colour contrast and luminosity.
