Dr Hessom Razavi was born in Iran and migrated to Australia with his family in 1989. Community-oriented parents heightened his awareness of inequality and his passion for contributing to the self-empowerment of disadvantaged groups. As an ophthalmologist, he has worked in Western Australia providing outreach clinics and surgery to regional, remote and Aboriginal communities, in areas including the Kimberley and Pilbara. This year, Hessom is undertaking a retinal fellowship at the Centre for Eye Research Australia.
