Vision 2020 Australia is seeking a voluntary, Board-elected Director to bring your expertise to our Board.
This is a unique opportunity to shape national eye health strategy, contribute to governance, and advocate for better vision care across Australia.
About the Role
The Board provides governance and strategic leadership, ensuring the organisation delivers on its mission to eliminate avoidable blindness and vision impairment. The successful candidate will contribute expertise in optometry and eye health to guide strategic decisions, advocacy, and sector initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in Board and committee meetings, contributing to governance, strategy, and oversight.
- Provide expert advice on clinical, public health, and educational aspects of eye care.
- Ensure all Board activities comply with the Constitution, Governance Charter, and statutory obligations.
- Advocate for initiatives improving access to eye care and preventing avoidable blindness.
Eligibility
- Qualified optometrist with substantial professional experience in clinical practice, research, education, or leadership.
- Commitment to Vision 2020 Australia’s mission and objectives.
- Compliance with constitutional requirements for Board membership, including disclosure of conflicts of interest.
Term
- Three years (commences on the date of appointment; and expires at the conclusion of the third Annual General Meeting following the appointment)
