Vision 2020 Australia’s Board today announced the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Carla Northam, effective Friday 1 June.
Ms Northam joined Vision 2020 Australia as CEO in July 2016. During her time with Vision 2020 Australia, Ms Northam achieved a number of major successes to advocate for people who are blind or vision impaired and to prevent avoidable blindness.
One of the highlights included the highly successful Rising Stars in Eye Health event at Parliament House in September 2017. This event showcased the sector’s leading early-career professionals to parliamentarians and policy decision makers.
Ms Northam also strengthened Vision 2020 Australia’s role as a national peak body and established a number of key partnerships including, the collaborative Parliamentary Friends Group for Employment and Disability event in February 2018.
The Vision 2020 Australia Board would like to thank Ms Northam for her hard work and dedication.
Ms Judith Abbott will commence as interim CEO on 4 June 2018 while the recruitment process to appoint a permanent CEO is undertaken.
